Twilight Series 2016-17 Round 1 Results
Thanks to everyone for coming out to round one of the Twilight Series. We had a very big field of 238 riders with all but one of the senior grades reaching capacity. Sorry for those that missed out, you have to get in early! Hamilton members can nominate in advance to handicappers@hamiltonwheelers.comBest wishes to the two riders who were injured in a crash in B2, Mark Whitelaw and a Taylor Cycles rider. We will get an update for you ASAP.
We had some great junior racing to kick it off and we hope to build numbers over the series.

Nicol Jackson Women's Series Round 2 Results - 20km ITT 27 July -Closeburn
Full resultsClick HERE for a gallery of photos from the day.
Report from Ladies Captain Karen Forster:
There were 42 winners at Round 2 of HPRW's Nicol Jackson Women's Series on Saturday 27th July. Through the generosity of our event partners Winners Sports Nutrition every woman who competed in the Individual Time Trial held at Closeburn was rewarded with a Winner's Bar made from Cadel's own recipe to power them on to victory and of course the long ride home. This year we saw records fall in every grade - could it have been the Winners Bars ?
Riding the race of TRUTH on a 20 km course which features rolling hills and heavy roads and having the ability to push yourself to the edge and hold it there was not an "easy" day in the office for anyone, however the ladies well and truly stepped up.
· A grade was taken out in a red hot time by Katrin Garfoot who completed the 20 km distance in 30.06 sec. (Course Record!)
· B grade's winner was 3 day licence holder Emma Coman-Jeffries (a regular on the triathlon scene), with a time of 33.45 sec. (Course Record!)
· The C grade event was hotly contested and taken out by Rachel Khoo in 35.36. (Course Record!)
· D grade had a standout performance again by Julie Rappo who finished over 2mins ahead of her nearest competitors with a time of 36.07 sec. (Course Records!)
Caroline Jones from Lifecycle was the lucky recipient of a custom bike fit valued at $300 from Cycle Physio -and thanks to their generosity we have another one to give away in Round 3.
ESI Sport Photography were on hand and have some great shots of everyone to remember the event long after the pain from aching muscles has faded. Activ Cycle Coaching provided some fantastic prizes for all the winners - and also have this HPRW course profiled on their indoor computer trainers. Drop in and check out their indoor trainers and other ride profiles. Thanks Activ for your continued support of the Series!!!
We hope that all the women competing enjoyed their Time Trialing experience and are looking forward to Round 3's Criterium at Nundah on August 31. In addition to race winners for each grade, we have some awesome lucky door random prizes including dinner and beauty treatment vouchers, groupon gift certificates etc.
Keep an eye on the HPRW website - for start times for the Crit on August 31 - and other information about the Series and our wonderful event partners.

2013 Club Criterium Championship Results - 20 July at Nundah
Luckily the rain stayed away and we had a jammed packed morning's racing at the Nundahdome. Congratulations to all our 2013 Club Criterium Championship medallists. Medals will be awarded at the Club Presentation Night for Gold, Silver and Bronze. Thank you to all our many volunteers who helped out during the morning, who are listed below (apologies if we have missed anyone who did not sign-on).Points
Points are awarded 10 for first, 6 for second, 4 for third, 1 for starting, 1 for finishing, and two if you don't race and volunteer instead.
Note from Rene Lubbers - Chief Commissaire: Please pass on my congratulations to your members and officials who attended the HPRW Club Crit Championships. From a Commissaries’ perspective it was a safe, well run event thanks to those members who volunteered to assist. However there was one minor niggle which would be remiss of me in my role as Commissaire not to mention.
I would appreciate if you could remind those junior riders and their parents of their obligation to conform with rule 3101, paragraph “A” of the CQ by-laws in regards to gearing restrictions.
Upon inspection after the event it was noted that there were just three bikes not in keeping with the distances specified, however small the infringement. The parents of the riders were spoken to and reminded of their obligations and I’m sure that they will take steps to rectify the oversight.
I understand the tight schedule we were all working to in order to get through the day’s events however I would suggest that perhaps a 20 or 30 minute interval needs to be slotted in before the junior events in the future so that roll outs and helmet checks can be carried out on a regular basis.

Frank Papp Memorial Handicap 13 July 2013
We had a fantastic day out the back of Mt Glorious for this race, in memory of our mate Frankie. Thanks to everyone who turned out, we had a record attendance of 71 Div 1 riders and 16 Div 2 riders. Also a huge thanks to all our volunteers who helped out with this race, as it's means devoting an entire day to helping ensure everyone else has a safe and enjoyable race. Well done to all riders for completing our hardest race of the year.Speedy recover to Ron Young who had a tumble during the warmup and banged his shoulder and lost a bit of bark. Kudos to Andy Patten who rode back up Mt Glorious after the race! Also well done to our junior riders competing in Div 2.

2012 Frank Papp Memorial Handicap - Somerset Dam
For anyone who didn't know him, Frank was a club member who passed away in an accident while
riding last year. Frank was the sort of bloke who made you feel like you'd known him for years, only a
few minutes after meeting him and he is missed by all who knew and rode with him. Frank loved riding
huge distances training for audax rides and Paris-Brest-Paris, so it's only fitting that the longest and hardest
race of the year is held in his memory.
44 riders entered the 100km Division 1 race with 6 handicapped groups all leaving 6 minutes apart. I started
in what turned out to be the winning group, but as I only lasted 10km I can't give much of a race report sorry!

Special thanks go to all our officials and volunteers for helping out and effectively giving up their entire day so we can all race. To Terry Bourne for the difficult job of handicapping everyone, to John Madigan for commissaire dutys, and all our other volunteers - (edit) Paul Dahl, Angus Eale, Darren Evans, Bruce Edge ,Bruce Gray, Cam Hill, Helen Young, Richard Brownhill, Gary Alcorn, Laurie Kelly and Phil Gibson. We were struggling to get enough rostered helpers, but a quick call for help meant we had more than enough.
6th July 2013 Nundah Criteriums
Another top day at Nundah with some great racing, well done to all our place getters and great to see some our older juniors mixing it up with the adults.A few quick reminders:
Don't forget to check your club grading and only race in that grade. If you wish to ride in a different grade, you must request the handicappers/race admininstator's permission first. If you have permission to ride in a lower grade for training, or if you missed the start for your grade, you should not contest the sprint or affect the race outcome in any way (breakaway/leadout etc). It is technically not permitted to ride two grades in the one event, so bear this in mind if you have a flat and you don't have spare or have a mechanical that is normally it.
